Following the daily briefing of the presidential task force on covid-19 in Abuja, Honourable Emeka Nwajiuba, minister of education has cleared the air about the idea of school reopening schools any time soon.
He added that for government to give directives for schools to resume, NCDC needs to give them approval.
He also made reference to number of neigbouring countries that reopen schools and still closed it due to an increase number of covid-19 and for that reason he said the government is not ready to experiment that with the citizen of Nigeria.
According Emeka, unless those is in charge of the lockdown lift it then they can reconsider opening schools because what’s the point of opening schools when teachers can not come to school.
He said what they are looking at now is the lifting of ban on interstate traveling because they need to have that openess for children to move. There is no how schools could resume without permitting interstate movements.
Thus, students should continue online learning till schools resumes fully for classroom learning.
