N-Power:Buhari increases beneficiaries by 1 million as he approves the expansion of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program, GEEP, nationwide.
Recall Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, had on Monday, November 30th, 2020, disclosed this at a ministerial press conference in Abuja.
N-Power: Buhari Increases Beneficiaries By 1 million
She said President Muhammadu Buhari raised the number of the beneficiaries of the programme which included the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, HGSFP, N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfer, CCT and Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, GEEP, to accommodate more beneficiaries.
“In order to double the scope of the National Social Investment Programmes, Mr President has graciously approved the expansion of all NSIP programmes, such as increase of N-Power beneficiaries from 500,000 to 1,000,000, increase of GEEP beneficiaries by 1,000,000 and increase of beneficiaries of Home-Grown School Feeding by 5,000,000,” the minister revealed earlier.
According to the president, the move is aimed at fulfilling his promise of lifting 100million Nigerians out of poverty.
He stated that five million pupils will be added into the National Home-Grown School Feeding Program, NHGSFP.
The Approval and Expansion of NSIP programmes

The statement reads:
“We remain committed to the plan to lift 100m Nigerians out of poverty.
To this end I have approved an increase in scope of our Social Investment Programme: Doubling of @npower_ng beneficiaries to 1 million; 1 million new @geep_ng beneficiaries & 5 million new pupils for @NHGSFP.”
About the SIPs
The SIPs include the school feeding programme for primary school pupils, N-Power for jobless graduates, the conditional cash transfer for elderly vulnerable Nigerians, and the government empowerment programme that includes TraderMoni – giving microloans to small-scale traders.
