Unilorin undergraduate commits suicide after losing N300m to Forex
One of the students of university of Ilorin, Gbenga Favour Olaoye-Akanbi, 300 level, department of Agriculture commits suicide after he was allegedly duped by a forex trader, Eseka Chukwutem Gospel.
According to reports, Olaoye-Akanbi was later found dead on Sunday, December 20, 2020, after drinking poison.
How Gbenga was Duped As he commits suicide
The late Gbenga was said to have allegedly invested over N300 million belonging to his colleagues and friends in a business run by Eseka Chukwutem.
According to Sahara Reporters, after chatting with Gbenga’s course-mate, it was revealed that Gbenga believed that forex is not a Ponzi scheme and that he had back up funds, much enough to pay every one of his investors their capital and profits even if things went wrong. Little did he know he is going to be duped.

“It’s so sad; I have over N5m investment deal with him. He claimed to be the one doing the trading initially, but when the problem started around June, he started mentioning one Eseka Chuckwutem Gospel as his boss.
He told us they were arrested together, but that our money was safe with him.
He later promised to pay everyone’s capital before December. I was surprised when I saw people posting his pictures with RIP today,” he said.
It is so sad for a young man of that nature to take his life just like that. May bad thing never locate us.
